Elvira and Oleg - directors of Independent Wine - IWC Merchant Award Italy Finalist

The International Wine Challenge (IWC) UK has announced the finalists for its 2021 Merchant Awards, and Independent Wine is up for the title of Specialist Merchant of the Year, Italy.

From hundreds of companies that submitted their entries into the competition, the IWC judges have chosen the most outstanding businesses – and we’re excited to say that Independent Wine is one of them.

We’re proud to be listed alongside some other incredible wine shops, including Valvona & Crolla – Scotland’s oldest delicatessen, which which offers a range of wines from France, Argentina, Spain and Italy – as well as Liberty Wines. The latter was founded in 1997 by David Gleave MW and offers a range of wines from all over the world. It feels absolutely incredible to be up against such well-respected and experienced names.

We’re especially proud that the IWC UK Merchant Awards has recognised our laser focus on premium Italian wine by making us finalists. We source 100% of our wine directly from boutique wineries in Italy, and don’t work with any distributors, importers or agents. This gives us the chance to choose wine that is more expensive at the source, but offers the best quality to our customers.

We specifically pick wines that have won international awards, and offer a record-breaking range of award-winning Italian wines in the UK.

The winners will be announced on the evening of June 30th, at the IWC evening of celebration for the wine trade in London. We wish our fellow finalists the best of luck!
