We are thrilled that Independent Wine has been shortlisted for two Decanter Retailer Awards 2021 – Small Online Retailer of the Year and Italy Specialist of the Year!
The Decanter Retailer Awards are judged across three stages by an expert judging panel. Each entry is assessed based on quality, value, range, service, innovation and performance. Decanter has stated that 2021 is a highly competitive year, with judge Andy Howard MW noting that there was a record number of entries.
Independent Wine’s laser focus on Italy allows us to stock over 50 Decanter World Wine Award-winning vintages, all sourced from boutique Italian wine producers. This is quite possibly the UK’s largest collection of this kind available online for next day delivery to customers in Mainland UK.
Independent Wine’s owners – Elvira and Oleg – travel to Italy each year to meet with winemakers, sample new vintages and inspect the wineries. This, in addition to impartial awards from Decanter and other industry bodies, ensures that only the best Italian wines make it into our Edinburgh warehouse.
Earlier this month we launched a subscription-based wine club focusing on Decanter medal winners. A new selection of six red wines is sent out each month, allowing enthusiasts and novices alike to sample some of the many award-winning vintages stocked by Independent Wine.
CEO Elvira Dmitrieva says:
“It’s truly an honour to be shortlisted for not one, but two, Decanter Retailer Awards – especially in such a competitive year. We’re proud that our laser-focus on sourcing the best Italian wines and award-winning vintages has been recognised, along with our position as an online-only retailer. We wish everyone in our categories the best of luck.”
The winners will be announced on 6 October at 11am on Decanter’s Instagram and Twitter pages. They will then be published on Decanter.com and featured in Decanter Magazine’s November 2021 issue, also available in shops on 6 October.
