A classic Primitivo: rich flavours of ripe black cherries, vanilla and smoke. Sakura Double Gold Medal

A full-bodied Italian red wine, Diecianni Primitivo is exactly what you would expect from this Southern Italian grape – also known as Zinfandel. The wine is full of rich sensory pleasure, dominated by pronounced flavours of ripe black fruits. It’s fermented in stainless steel and then aged for three months in French oak barrels, which add a hint of vanilla and spice. The grapes for this red wine are grown in Salento and harvested at the very start of September. It will age in the bottle for four to five years, during which time it will develop more complex aromas. Ideal for cellaring.

Awards: Sakura Double Gold Medal 2015 (2013 vintage).

  1. KCCaer

This wine has incredible depth and smoothness. I only wish I could keep wife away from it, who in fact comes from the region this is made in Italy. The only problem we have is that it disappears from the wine cellar too quickly.

  2. Macaroon

Opened a bottle of this the other day and had 100% success – everyone (even those who normally don’t drink wine) loved it and we had to ration it as we only had the one bottle! Very deep burgundy colour with a rich, full flavour and great aftertaste!

  3. Phenoc

Fantastic deep black red colour with a fabulous velvet smooth texture. This is one of the best primitivos I’ve tasted! Will buy again.

  4. JOE BORG
