A highly aromatic, light-bodied and exceptional sparkling Muscat wine from award-winning Piemonte winemakers

Ideal as an aperitif – and irresistible on summer afternoons – this beautiful and light Italian sparkling wine has distinct aromas of guava and pear. It is made by award-winning winemaker Mario Francone, in his cellar in the heart of the Asti area. The name of the vineyard translates as “old farms of Gallina”, one of the prized cru hills in the Neive area famous for its Barbaresco wine.

The white grapes are harvested by hand in the middle of September, then de-stemmed and softly pressed at the winery. Then the juice undergoes a low-temperature fermentation at 13-15 °C in stainless steel tanks. This is interrupted when the alcohol reaches just 5%. Because fermentation stops before all the sugar has converted into alcohol, the resulting wine is bright, highly aromatic and enhanced by the natural sweetness of the grapes. The fizz is all natural, too.

Tasting notes: Pale lemon colour. Expressive and pronounced aromas of guava, pear, candy, and white flower blossom. The wine has the typical sweetness of Muscat, medium acidity, fine mousse and low alcohol. Pleasant and pronounced flavours on the palate, with a long lingering finish.

Gorgeous sparkling wine. Lovely fizz, sweet! But I was expecting it too be so, that’s the style of moscato. Enjoyed by my guests with finger food while flicking between the Grand Prix, tennis and cricket World Cup. Goes down very easily.
